Pollonaruwa – A rainy day in this ancient city, A daytrip from Kandy, although the bus took 3 hours one way. Getting in the parc involved some bureaucratic issues, guiding us the wrong way. And a map is not included in the overpriced entrance ticket. We haggled down on bike rental, playing the walk-away-game. The bikes turned out to be a time safer as we only had three hours before we had to return to Kandy. Biking in the parc is pretty relaxed, getting attacked by monkey troops, and watching monitor lizard frozen on the extensive grass lands. The monuments itself are a bit disappoiting, pretty much crumbled down all the way, only walls standing strong. The rain also played its part in not the best travel day in Sri Lanka. In the end we bought a ride back to Kandy for a few more rupees, saving at least an hour time.
