In the early morning we set off for a second hike up little Adams peak, a little warm up for the hike to come after the rain freed us from his capture. We set off towards the train station in order to find the trail to Ella rock. There are two choices where the trails starts, over the railroad left or right, not knowing which is north or south. After asking
around we find out that left over the train track is where we
have to walk. Literally we are walking over the track for
more than half an hour, thankfully without a train passing
by, but its kinda awkward. After passing a black bridge,
bypassing a mini Buddha temple, we turn left up the hill
where the real descent starts. The rain has come back to join
us and please our trek. We see various people coming down,
really happy to be down again. What kind of trek awaits us?
We start off making our way through high green plants, a real
tight path, slippery and filled with stones. Turning left at
a big pineapple plant, where the trek along the rocky forrest
part starts. Beautiful but seemly half dead trees inhabite
this part of the rocky hill to climb. At a certain point we
meet a couple who seems pretty relaxed and says we can go
left or right after a few hundred meters. Left for steep
climb up or right for a gradual zigzagging climb. We
choose left.
Soon the climb starts. A steep hill filled with stones we use
as a staircase, followed by tree trunks make the trail up.
Yes, It’s steep, but definitely not long. From the start it
took little more than an hour before we could enjoy the
scenery over the green rocky hills below us, floating cloud
flakes way down, the sight on Ella and small Adams peak
straight ahead. Magical. A nice point to have lunch and relax
as the rain stopped for a few minutes….
